Hello,
I hope this message finds you well. My name is James Murphy Sr., President of the Coalition of Concerned Black Christian Men. CCBCM was founded in 1987, during a time when homicides and drug related crimes were destroying families and threatening to silence an entire generation. CCBCM came together to pray, support, and uplift our community then, and we are still going strong.
Today, we are facing new challenges. Many of our brightest students have studied, worked hard in school and cannot afford college tuition, books, or basic necessities. In addition, hunger and food insecurity have become a reality in our community due to the high cost of groceries.
CCBCM cannot fall short or lose focus. Leaders like Maryland Governor Wes Moore and County Executive Angela Alsobrooks have stood with and encouraged us to continue our work. But we need YOU. Stand in the gap with CCBCM as we support the DMV’s brightest students with scholarships, feed the most vulnerable through the SHARES program, and provide financial assistance to those most in need.
Our new fundraising campaign—GIVE 1987—is a reminder of our past and a call to action for our future. Giving back—just a little—makes a BIG difference. For example,
$19.87—provides a bag of groceries for someone in need.
$198.70—buys college textbooks for a deserving student.
An even greater gift of $1,987—funds a scholarship for a future engineer, accountant or educator.
Our goal for the campaign is to raise $30,000, and TOGETHER, we can do it.
CCBCM believes prayer changes things. Since 1987—our prayers, hard work, and your contributions—have changed thousands of lives for the better. Let’s continue to STAND STRONG for the DMV. Donate 1987 TODAY using our website, Cash App, Zelle, or a check.
Thank you and God bless.
